Our Patron
We are pleased to announce that Rugby League legend, Paul Sironen has agreed to become patron of Icons & Legends. Paul will be working with us in a few areas with a particular emphasis on fundraising where we will be assisting charities, schools and clubs to raise funds for their causes. Paul Sironen played his junior representative football with the Balmain Tigers having grown up in the inner western suburb of Ryde.
Paul “Sirro” Sironen, ever-loyal to Balmain, played 246 first grade games for the Tigers and holds the record as their longest serving player in terms of first grade matches. He also played 7 games for Sydney Origin, 14 for NSW and in 21 Tests for Australia.
During his illustrious career he was awarded the Dally M Rookie of the Year, Dally M Representative Player of the Year and NSW Rugby League Writers Discovery of the Year.
Sirro who played in the 1989 Balmain Grand Final team, has been honoured by being named in both the Wests Tigers Team of the Century and the Balmain Tigers Team of the Century.
Paul is a West Tigers Board Member and a Balmain Tigers Board Member.
